David Anson Lee, MD, the newest addition to the staff in 2007, is an internationally known eye physician and surgeon, and recognized for his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, particularly the most difficult cases, He also has extensive experience in basic and clinical research in glaucoma and other eye diseases.

Dr. Lee was the Pawek-Vallotton Chair for Biomedical Engineering in Ophthalmology and Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and the Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, South Carolina. Prior to his appointment to the faculty at MUSC, Dr. Lee was the endowed University Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Penn State College of Medicine, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He was also a Professor and Chief of the Glaucoma Division at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California in Los Angles (UCLA).

Dr. Lee's educational background is extensive and includes a Master's Science degree in ophthalmology, and Masters in Business Administration degree from UCLA. Dr. Lee is certified by and serves as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. During his professional career Dr. Lee has received many awards among them including, the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Honor and Senior Honor Awards, and The Best Doctors in America since 1996. Dr. Lee also holds several leadership positions including, Chairman of the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Ophthalmic Technology Assessment Committee Glaucoma Panel, and is on the editorial board of several scholarly publications.

He has four patents and has published seven books and over 170 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. He has also been invited as a visiting professor and speaker to numerous universities and meetings throughout the world.
